How to Start Meditating – Simple Beginnings
This is the first monthly blog post titled Meditation Inspiration. In this blog we will endeavour to ignite that spark of inspiration for the practice of Meditation. There are so many inspiring teachings and Teacher’s in the world of Meditation. So, let us explore some of these and get a taste for all that Meditation has to offer. To come along all you will need is an open mind….I hope you are excited by this idea, and join us on this expedition. Let’s light the fire of inspiration together.
So let us begin with a quote shall we, quotes seem to be able to get the juices of inspiration flowing, oh so many to choose from though, where to begin? Being that this is the very first Meditation Inspiration blog post, let’s agree to keep it simple……
Oh yep, I’ve got it, are you ready?
“BE HERE NOW”- Ram Dass
What? Is that it????
It seems so simple, almost stupid, because it’s so obvious. Well, that is why it is so profound, because it’s simple. You might think, well ‘I am here now obviously!
Done. Okay, what next?
And, in that thought, of ‘What’s next”, you move out of the NOW. You are no longer HERE NOW, you have projected yourself out of the here and now, and you are somewhere else.
So, ‘Be here now’ is the premise that we learn to be at peace with what is. NOW. We settle into our awareness of the present moment. We cease to project our thoughts into the future, we forget the past. Drop the stories, forgo our worries and just BE.
It is in the doing nothing, that the magic happens.
Are you curious?
Let’s explore this. Sit comfortably, close your eyes, and begin to take in a few deep breaths. Long and slow.Relax your body. When your body relaxes your mind automatically begins to slow down. Thoughts, will still come. Let them. But don’t feed them. Don’t follow them, just allow them to pass naturally like clouds drifting in the sky- as Ram Dass would say.
Where are you Now? You are HERE NOW. Stay, relax, enjoy.
Simple. Practice. Expand. Awareness.
Peace Out and Meditate Mate
